Fon und Google -- innige Liebe?

Ich möchte ja nicht sagen dass mir das Verhältnis von Fon und Google etwas suspekt vorkommt, trotzdem gehen mir so meine Gedamken im Kopf rum. Vielleicht mag das aber auch jemand in den Kommentaren einfach aufklären, und ich habe nur etwas verpasst.

Dass Google neben Skype und zwei VC-Firmen Investor in Fon ist, ist bekannt.

Trotzdem sind da einige Dinge etwas seltsam:
1.) Mit Gmail Uploader stellt Fon einen Service bereit, der direkt einen extrem grossen Mehrwert für Gmail beschert.

2.) Der Service ist komplett ungebranded.

3.) Martin Varsavsky hat Google-Insider News, die ans Tageslicht gekommen sind:

4.) Fon hat momentan die grösste WiFi-Community der Welt.

5.) Ubuntu ist bei Fon mittlerweile offizielles Arbeitsmittel.

Für mich ergibt das folgendes Bild:
zu 1.) und 2.): Fon stellt für Google eine Alpha Version zur Verfügung, der direkte Link zu Google kommt dann erst später?

zu 3.) Martin Varsavsky weiss tatsächlich mehr (direkt von Google) oder dies war eine Mutmassung, schliesslich bietet Yahoo! auch unlimitierten Speicherplatz und Gmail wird eines Tages nachziehen.

zu 4.) Google baut fleissig an WiFi-Netzen... nach Mountain View und San Francisco nun in Washington.

zu 5.) Auch bei Google wird Ubuntu offiziell unterstützt. Könnte das eine Vorgabe sein?


Vielleicht liege ich komplett falsch, aber irgendwie klingt das für mich fast so wie wenn Fon eine spanische Google-Labs Aussenstelle ist. Oder aber Fon möchte Google nur in die Hände spielen und ist auf einen Buyout in naher Zukunft aus. Nur Skype passt dann nicht ins Bild...
